Wohngeld table: maximum amounts and rent levels
The Wohngeld table defines up to which amount rent is considered for Wohngeld. The values differ by rent level and household size – rent level II applies to Leipzig.
How the table works
A maximum amount is defined for each rent level and each household size. If the rent is higher, the excess part is not considered. If it is lower, the actual rent counts.
The six rent levels
The rent levels range from I (low rent level) to VI (high rent level). The classification is based on the local rent level. Leipzig is assigned to rent level II.
Leipzig: rent level II
The maximum amounts of rent level II apply in Leipzig. They determine which part of the gross rent excluding heating is considered in the Wohngeld calculation.
Why the table does not tell everything
The table only shows the eligible rent. How high the subsidy actually is also depends on income. The Wohngeld calculator is the right tool to estimate your own entitlement.
Current values
The maximum amounts are adjusted regularly. The applicable values follow from the Wohngeldgesetz (WoGG) and its tables. The Wohngeld calculator always uses the current values.
